“This is not photography as therapy. It is therapy itself, with photography providing an additional language through which experience can be explored and understood.”

Becoming Aware…through Photography

For many years, photography has been central to my professional work. As a therapist, published author, and longstanding practitioner in the field of therapeutic photography, I have seen the unique ways that images can help people access thoughts, feelings, memories, and experiences that can be difficult to express through words alone.

I’m pleased to announce that I am now offering a six-session therapy programme integrating photography into the counselling process.

These are one to one, online therapy sessions, grounded in a professional therapeutic relationship and informed by established counselling practice. Photography is not the goal of the work. Rather, your photographs and image-making become valuable tools for reflection, exploration, and deeper understanding.

Together, we may explore themes such as identity, relationships, loss, life transitions, self-esteem, personal history, or the challenges you are currently facing. The photographs we use can help uncover perspectives and emotions that might otherwise remain out of reach.

You do not need any photography experience, artistic ability, or specialist equipment. The focus is not on creating great images, but on what the images reveal about your experiences, strengths, and aspirations.

The programme includes:

📷 Six one-to-one therapy sessions
🧠 A professionally held therapeutic process
💬 An opportunity to explore your life through both conversation and image-based reflection
🌱 Space for greater self-awareness, insight, and change

If you are looking for therapy and are curious about working in a more creative and visually engaging way, I’d be delighted to hear from you.

Each session costs £50, and there will be an option to extend past 6 weeks if that is something you feel you require.
